## Features

- **100% private**: Your video is processed locally. It never leaves your device.
- **Lossless 90° turns**: Quarter turns are written as rotation metadata: instant, with no re-encode and no quality loss.
- **Free, no watermark**: No watermarks, no signup, and no fixed file size or length cap.

## How it works

1. **Drop your video**: Drag a file in, or click to browse. MP4, WebM, MOV, and MKV work well.
2. **Rotate it 90, 180, or 270 degrees**: Choose a quarter turn, fine-tune any angle, flip it, trim the ends, and pick how the canvas should fit.
3. **Download the result**: Quarter turns finish almost instantly with no quality loss. Flips and custom angles render a fresh MP4 or WebM in your browser.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I rotate a video online?

Open your video above, press Left or Right (or the [ and ] keys) until it is upright, then select Export video and download it. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

### Does my video upload to a server?

No. The entire rotation happens inside your browser using the WebCodecs API and an open-source library called mediabunny. The file never leaves your device.

### Will rotating lose quality?

Not for 90°, 180° or 270° turns with the default Expand canvas: the video is left untouched and only its rotation flag changes, so it is lossless and nearly instant. Flips, custom angles, trims, Crop or Fill, and size changes redraw every frame, which re-encodes at a high bitrate so the result stays very close to the original.

### Why is my video sideways or upside down?

Phones record in one orientation and store a rotation flag. If the phone guessed wrong when you started filming, or a player ignores the flag, the video shows sideways. Rotate it here to fix it. If an old player or editor still shows it sideways, turn on Maximum compatibility to bake the turn into the picture.

### Can I turn a portrait video into landscape, or the reverse?

Yes. A 90° turn swaps width and height. To keep the original frame shape instead, choose Crop or Fill. Fill zooms in so there are no empty corners, and Blur fills the edges with a soft copy of the video.

### How do I get rid of black bars after rotating?

Pick Fill to zoom in until the frame is covered, or keep Expand or Crop and set Corners to Blur for a soft background instead of black.

### How do I rotate a video on iPhone or Android without an app?

Open this page in Safari or Chrome on your phone, tap to choose a video from your library, rotate it, and tap Download. On iPhone the file saves to Files; you can then save it to Photos from the share sheet.

### Does rotating change the resolution?

A 90° or 270° turn swaps width and height (a 1920×1080 video becomes 1080×1920). Custom angles with Expand make the canvas slightly larger. You can also choose a smaller size, such as 720p, under Export settings.

### Can I trim the video at the same time?

Yes. Use the scissors button under the preview, drag the trim handles, or press I and O to set the start and end at the playhead.

### Can I rotate only part of a video?

Not yet. The rotation applies to the whole video (or the trimmed part you keep).

### What video formats are supported?

MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, and most common formats. If your video uses an unusual codec, we automatically fall back to a transcoder so it still works. You can download the result as MP4 or, in browsers that support it, WebM.

### Is it free? Is there a watermark?

Yes, it is free, with no watermark, no signup, and no fixed size or length limit. Browser memory and device speed set the practical ceiling.

### Should a video be vertical or horizontal?

Vertical (9:16) suits TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and Stories. Horizontal (16:9) suits YouTube, TVs, and laptops. Rotate a sideways clip to match where it will be watched.

### Does it work on mobile?

Yes. It works in modern browsers including Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox on iOS, Android, tablets, and desktop.
